In health care, keeping standards of care high is what protects the public. For registered nurses in Florida, continuing education reported through CE Broker is a condition of renewal; for the care roles around them, valid first-aid and CPR cards must be on site when residents are present. Here is what the rules expect for your role — and how recognized, up-to-date, documented training meets it.

The Florida Board of Nursing makes continuing education a condition of licence renewal, tracked through CE Broker, so that nurses keep their knowledge and skills current. The Board specifies certain mandatory topics alongside general contact hours.
The nursing standard of care also carries a professional duty to maintain competence and to be able to respond in an emergency, including initiating resuscitation. A recognized, documented certificate is the practical way to evidence that a nurse can act when it counts.
The Florida Board of Nursing requires 24 contact hours per two years, reported through CE Broker. Basic BLS/ACLS recertification cannot be applied, but ACLS, PALS and NRP certification courses do count toward CE.

Florida is specific for support staff. Under Rule 59A-36.010, a staff member who has completed First Aid and CPR courses and holds a currently valid card must be in the assisted living facility (ALF) at all times when residents are present. Where the role requires such a certificate in addition to occupational training, a recognized standalone certificate meets that requirement — and must be kept current and verifiable.
